What's the best upgrade makes. Makes you can't go wrong fitting.

I've been looking at perrin and tomei but are expensive to other makes.

Is there that much difference?

All depends what you buy really, some times yes, sometimes no.

Exhaust manifolds, RCM, Tomei etc are all the same as the cheap ebay jobbies, yet 4x the price.

Yet because they have a nice brand name on them people will pay the money, but they are still the same product.

do your research on indiviual items as a broad question like this is impossible to answer.

I was told the more expensive the better lol.

A perrin intercooler Is 1300 and a Jap speed 300.

What's the diff.

Air intakes same deal

Headers up pipes same

I don't mind spending the money if it's worth it. Not just a name.

I tuned my old scooby on lots of second hand bits etc. Now in a financial situation to buy the best if worth it.

A japspeed or similar will do fine, my autobahn intercooler is running my 535hp scoob no problems at all! You might find the brackets and fixings etc are slightly better quality, but I dont see the need to spend the money on it like that!

Filters do make a good difference, but cost isnt always meaning the best, Power enterprises are one of the best filter makes, but the Apexi is also good and so are K+N's.

Headers you do get what you pay for, sometimes. 304 stainless is rubbish no matter hwo it comes from, get a set of Killer B Motosport headers if you are worried about quality, but expect to pay for it.

You need to do the research on your parts, generally most expensive is not always best.

This is my research :-)
Been looking for a while. As you can imagine all suppliers and manufactures claim they are the best.
People's reviews mean much more to me than website spoof.

Problem is no matter how good something is one person will have had a bad experience. It's like taking notice of film reviews.

Generally cheapo copies are bad news eg:

Copy HKS SSQV
Copy Sard FPR

The genuine versions are brilliant but the ebay copies suck.

I would say generally expensive parts are better but as has been said some are just overpriced.

I have got the Japspeed FMIC fitted to my blobeye and the quality is surprisingly good, I expected worse due to the price as so did Cannon Fodder when he purchased a Stainless Steel radiator from there.

Note if you do choose to go down the Japspeed route then check out 2fast2cool2 ebay page as they buy in bulk from Japspeed and sell their stock for considerably less. They have good reviews also

EDIT: Here is a link
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GDA-SUBARU...item519c5a2897

And a review:

Subaru Collector 555.

Cheers for link. Been researching Jap speed. Stuff on their Web page is cheap compared to other brands. Mix reviews on quality of headers etc.

All the headers are much of a muchness, they are all copies of a very old design, using inferior materials. Better off with cheap japspeed ones than expensive (exactly the same thing) RCM ones. Because at least you wont cry when you have to replace them.

Which WILL happen sooner or later.

The other choice are 321 grade stainless like Killer B's offering, or inconel etc from subaru WRC spares

you get what you pay for, simple as! - use forums such as this to find out peoples experiences before you buy - authentic jap is usually best imo

But that is so far from the truth it is ridiculous.

http://www.rogerclarkmotorsport.co.u...?productID=287

£594 inc vat

http://www.japspeed.co.uk/subaru-imp...-manifold.html

£229,

They are the exact same thing, although the japspeed one is braced. So I dont think you get what you pay for at all, spend smart rather than go for big brands as the most money isnt always the best option

I bought a set of toyo sport headers for a previous car an they blew after a day on the flexy hoses. I have just bought a set of rcm headers and after looking at the japspeed ones for over half the price, i feel sick. The rcm ones do come braced tho, haha. What gains will i see with the japspeed fmic over standard sti tmic on an 04 sti?

Yep, it is daylight robbery, but at least you have a cool name to show for it!

None if you are going to go over 400hp the standard TMIC would be the best bet until wanting big power.

The flexis are always the weak point on the other design headers but I would have thought it was a manufacturing issue to be honest

Even if they dont, you can get a harvey one for less than £300....

Personally i think it is a gimmick anyway!

What are you on about with this 'bracing'.
Are you on about the stuff that's fitted for shipping and then removed before fitting !
