Default Faulty stat??

Leave the car ticking over temp gauge will go about half way and sit there, once I start driving it drops right to bottom,, still have hot/warm air blowing out in the car, car starts fine not losing any water no water coming out over flow or anything like that

Could be the guage or the temp sensor.

Both sensors are beside each other under the inlet manifold.

does it take a long time to get up to temp?

Stuck open thermostat sounds about right.

They stick in the open position usually when they go wrong, so as not to overheat the engine...failsafe, it's called.
