Finances are tight so I'm looking at two Scooby options (needs to be new to get some warranty of some sort - opted out of company car scheme).
Option 1 - Import WRX (about £18K from an import dealer who will part-ex my Golf) and add a PPP for £1600 or so
Option 2 - Import STi Type UK or equivalent (£21K approx)
Questions:
Performance of the PPP compared to the STi - I'm guessing that its really a no brainer and the STi will knock spots of the WRX
Motorway ride for a WRX compared to STi (do a lot of motorway miles so I'm a bit concerned about road and wind noise on the STi, having read a couple of mags)
Insurance for a WRX with PPP compared to a standard (but higher group) STi?
Can anyone please help me justify to the bank manager why I should go with the STi rather than the WRX

Choke on it Mo
But joking aside. If you're looking for fun then there's no competition. The STi will give you miles more performance and tuning potential. It will be a little harsher but as the new car is very comfortable anyway you're still in the very acceptable area.
I would guess the STi will be slightly more work on motorways until you get it into top gear but again that's only minor.
My dealer didn't tell me there was an STi coming out so I bought my WRX in January. Was I ever sick when I discovered the STi? Having said that, it's still a great drive and my PPP is being fitted on the 18th June.
If you can afford the different insurance and running costs go for the STi.

£10K later and mines now a real flyer, but I'll get f-all back for these mods, go with the STi deffo.

Just traded my WRX PPP in for a new STi.
No comparison mate, go for the STI
The STi is very quiet with the standard exhaust so motorway driving is not a problem, in fact the WRX PPP made a lot more noise(sounded great though) The ride is firm but overall feels better than my WRX with the Prodrive spring kit.
