Mafs are fragile and expensive to keep replacing. A weak point for some years of Impreza. They can also cause other problems when they fail which can lead to engine failure if not caught. They also have limits in regard to higher end tuning.

With some aftermarket ECU's you can bin the MAF blank it off and run on a MAP instead. More reliable, better for mapping ect. But the cost of doing it is obviously high as you need the ECU and mapping. Not worth it just to get rid of the MAF but if you are doing the ECU and mapping anyway then its a a good idea.

It can be done on the oem ecu. My 2003 spec c has just been mapped mafless

Ok ive just been thinking about not bothering with an induction kit. And spend the money on something else. Would i feel much diffrence? Responsiveness?

I wouldn't bother with an induction kit. They are only needed when the standard airbox gets too restrictive and its good for a lot of BHP. They are required when you for FMIC as you can't fit the standard setup.
