well, moving on from my 1st theory of a faulty ICV or the actuator motor on it, i suspect my fault is with the TPS, when i was getting high idle for a minute, then it would lower, then the car would cut out, i unplugged, lambda, no change, maf, no change, i even set my map on the ESL to mafless to test the MAF, no change, anyway, lots of testing and unplugging i finally unplugged the TPS, the car idled high but was constant and didnt cut out, so i adjusted the ICV to compensate, car idled fine and drove fine, great, new TPS it is then.

well, when i came to restart the car some 30 mins later, it idled alot lower than it did earlier, makes sense, i adjusted it when hot etc, so i plugged back in the TPS and it now runs as it should and as it did before yesterday when all this just started

so, my question, how do you test the TPS ?

Sorry I can't answer your questions. But I am sure I have seen people talk about testing them before....

How did you adjust your ICV?

If you monitor the live log of your tips it should be around 6% at idle.
I adjusted my iacv u till the max rpm was 1400 and min was 500
When adjusting the idle speed from min to max on the idle 2d map

ive read somehwere you can test the voltage with throttle closed and then the volatge at full throttle, just cant find a simple how to guide for idiots like me LOL

i adjusted the icv byt undoing the 2 phillips screws and moving the actuator motor on top of the ICV itself.

Sorry mate my last reply was after a few too many beers.

If you have ESL cable and software.

Connect to the ECU. Start logging with the TPS selected. Adjust your TPS sensor so your TPS reading on ESL is around 6% a with the throttle closed (within 1.5% should be ok)
If the TPS is too low you will get a check engine light, too high and it will not go into "idle" mode.
You can then adjust your 2D idle map idle speed to 2000rpm or anything excessive. (just to force the IACV to open fully.
Now adjust your IACV (solenoid) so you revs are around 1350-1400rpm.
You can now restore you ESL 2D idle map and you should be sitting about perfect!

I had a similar problem as you for a long time. This is the easiest way i found to setup the TPS and IACV valve to work properly!

This is not the "subaru" way to solve your problem! But it worked well for me!
