High pitch squeal. Wrx 2003.
Hi, as anybody had a high pitch squeal.
It starts only when warmed up, it doesn't go when you rev it but it changes pitch slightly.
It sounds to be on drivers side prob from tubo to Nr coolant tank area.
I fit complete timing belt kit/ water pump and have had both belts back off and run it and squeal is still there.
As anybody had anything like this with the turbo as it does sound like that area.
Once cooled down it goes off.
It's a 2003 wrx.
Also had complete clutch kit, this problem was there before I did clutch.
Many thanks Craig

Maybe timing belt rollers possibly then? Try listening by putting a screwdriver to various places and your ear to it,you should be able to narrow down where it's coming from. Could it be the turbo itself whining/squealing it might be knackered. Has the car sat for a while? You said you hadn't run it before changing belts

I bought it with the problem of it not engaging gears. So I removed engine fit a complete clutch kit/ flywheel skim. Complete timing belt kit with every pulley and new water pump.
I have been round it with a long screwdriver and even a stethoscope but can't tell, but does seem like its coming more from turbo area.
There is no play in the turbo but its starting to sound like it could be the prob.
Thanks for that.

Check turbo oil feed is clean if its sat around it could be gunked, not supplying suffice oil. Though I would think the damage is done now if this is the case
