Default Front bumper and splash guard question?

It's starting to become a real pain in the **** trying to work out what's missing from the front of my car.
Basically at some time in its life, the front bumper has either been removed, or, the plastic inner splash guard things from inside the front wheel arch have been taken off, and not been re-fitted very well.
They have both got broken clips and one has a split in it, but more concerning for me is, it looks like something is missing, and you can get hold of the front bumper at either side and pull it away slightly from the car, ( nothing major, but shouldn't be like it ).
Been to subaru to get a drawing of what parts are under there, and as usual, the parts guy really didn't know much about the car, just printed off a parts list and suggested I go visit a body shop.
What I'm really after is a picture, or link to somewhere that will show me, of what exactly fixes the bumper to the plastic splash guard bits.
