Just disconnect it and find out? With airbag systems it is usually advised to leave the battery disconnect for some time before messing with them. I would have thought it will just bring up the airbag warning light. Which you could also remove. Not sure if it will pass an MOT if the airbag has been obviously disabled but not sure you are keeping it road legal anyway? If you do want it road legal do a proper job so you can't tell it ever had one

I completely removed mine. No problems at all with the car:

I removed the yellow wiring loom under the dash, the control unit and everything that was connected to it. Now I just have to take some time and remove both front sensors to finish deleting the airbag system completely.

Cheers,
Marcio

Yup, it's fine to take it out. I took all mine out of my classic. The whole lot weighed around 5 kgs

I'm looking at doing the same thing. Did you still get the airbag light after it was all removed or did you have to remove that too?
