Tell the world a little bit about your vehicle
A series one 944 that Im slowly converting into a track day car. Originally bought for the 2007 Scumball3000 Rally: car number 69. Far too good to sell on after Scumball and begging to be converted as its a rare non-sunroof example. It still looks like a turd, but its right where it matters. The intention is to keep the car mechanically standard, apart from the open exhaust, improving the performance by lightening the vehicle.
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
Standard engine / standard transaxle. Dansk stainless steel sports exhaust.
Suspension Modifications:
Standard ARBs, torsion bars, dampers and struts. GAZ adjustable race suspension is ready to fit.
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
7.5'' front and 9'' rear 17'' (Cup size) three-piece Compomotive PS wheels, with 245/40 Dunlop SportMaxx tyres. New standard ATE brake calipers.
Interior/Exterior Modifications:
Cabin and load deck carpet, standard front and rear seats and sound deadening removed; seats replaced with 5kg a piece composite parts. Rear hatch replaced with a polycarbonate part and polycarbonate windows and a GRP bonnet are ready to fit. Door cards, handles and regulators removed: doors trimmed and lined with .6mm aluminium sheet. Rear wings drilled to allow torsion bar re-indexing without dropping the rear beam axle. Rear wiper motor and electric hatch release motors removed. Lightweight GRP nosecone fitted and rear bumper drilled. Current weight 1100kgs with more savings to be made. The weight loss has led to a noticable performance improvement and it brakes and corners a damned sight better.
No stereo, no speakers, no sound proofing or trim and little chance of sleeping with this ringing in my ears..... Read more ยป
