Default Centre Section

Hi all, Just a quick question regarding my exhaust. Currently the system is stock and without the rumble. I've done a bit of reading and found people have changed their back box then had to change their centre section to get the desired rumble. My question is will just changing the centre section on a stock system improve the sound? When funds permit I will get a full system and re-map ect but wondered if this will be a quick fix for now?

The centre section contains a resonator that cuts out a lot of noise. Changing this for a free flowing item will increase noise.

That's for this lads, Harri sorry but I've got a blob. If the replacement item is free flowing will I see any power gains?

Not really. The gains come from when the cats are removed as these provide an over boost as a result due to the lack of back pressure. Then mapping can net the gains properly.

If you were to add and remove a resonated centre section on say a 450+BHP car then I would imagine you would see some more significant changes in power. At stock levels you'll just notice the sound.

What are you trying to achieve? Just volume?

Volume for now, until I have the ££ for a full system + fuel pump + remap. But I dont want the car to sound over the top. At present the scooby doesn't sound like a scooby so I was thinking of just changing the centre pipe and maybe a prodrive back box to get the boxer rumble

Prodrive rear box and removing the resonator in the centre section should make it sound quite nice.

The Prodrive system is probably one of the best out there for looks and sound.
