Default Mapping Session Today

My self and Lee (Scooby Lee101) took trip to Surrey Rolling Road and met up with Duncan (RaceDynamix) and lee had a tweak on his map as new turbo back exhaust fitted, sure he will post his results (not wanting to spoil his happiness)
Anyway my session at Eurosepc last month, which was my first and baseline of what I had 248.3 bhp which seemed low.
So after fitting prodrive cat and second decat pipe the car was over boosting like mad hence the mapping session today, couple of items that need resolving after the session today, 1- neutral position swich is intermittent and requires replacement hence the blips/dips in the bhp graph 2-walbro fuel pump which came yesterday and did not have time to fit.

Here is the graph from last month:

And from today, happy with what I got and told that with the two items required should see 330 ish, Duncan had to wind the boost back along with AFR.
He did comment that it spools like a Bas...d! Did sound nice.

Not bad without the uprated fuel pump!
Totally different car, once the two item advised are sorted will have it tweaked agian
One issue got home and after parking up noticed idle was bit limply called Duncan and found vacuums pipe had come off and now have CEL light on
Need a code reader to see what it is and off for a drive to see if all is still ok.

As yes happy as my target was 300 bhp so all is good apart from the CEL light!

Good stuff. STi pumps are out of puff at about 310. So deffo worth getting the most out of it with an uprated pump.
325bhp plus is on the cards.

How far are you intending to go with it?

Cheers, may need new clutch soon so do that and the NPS and fuel pump that will be it for the engine for a while, will be focusing on the suspension set up next.

As Ed has stated had a remap and dyno session today with Duncan.

Top man, as always Duncan. Thankyou.

The rolling road was an experience, i havent had 1 of my cars on a rolling road for some years. Last time was when i had my RS Turbo on a set of rollers many many years ago (mid/late 90s) LOL

My mods list isnt very long as the car is my daily drive.

K&N Panel airfilter.
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump.
Full 3" Cobra Turbo back exhaust system.
Remap by RaceDynamix

Rolling road figures were

328.3 Bhp @ 5700rpm
330 lb Torque @ 4300rpm

The torque is over 300 lb from 3500rpm until 5700rpm, so the torque is nice and consistant

Car is amazing to drive now, really pleased with the figures considering i havent really done a great deal to the car.

The drive home was hampered by a police van on the M25 LOL, however the tunnel was an expercience with the new exhaust on. Im sure Ed will testify to how loud it sounded when in the tunnel.

Next is to get on the 1/4 mile strip and get some times.

Ill post up my graph later.

Another good result there Lee.
The STI motor responds so well to the basic mods that there after it becomes a law of diminishing returns.

For how easy it is and the cost of some gaskets I'd fully recommend porting the oem cast headers. This will improve response and spool and in turn add torque.
Another good mod is to do away with the oem air box snorkel in the wing and put a direct cold air feed from the fog light into the air box.
Not only does this reduce pre turbo restriction but also aids ACTs.

All mega cheap and great gains when mapped to suit.

The police van was a pain, you do not want to be behind lee in a tunnel, you will need ear plugs, sounds sweet and very loud!!!!

Also thanks to Duncan did a top job with both cars, seem that they was on the rollers for ages!

Just my CEL light issue now

Cheers - guys.

Ed - the torque curve will smooth out once the cams aren't switching on and off due to the nps. Def potential to get 330 on yours - that was at 1.2 bar of boost so not much more than standard tbh

Also I will see you thursday to see what the cel light is and resolve

Can you explain more on the headers as this sounds intresting, and where/who can do this?
Also the air box works is there any photos/instructions on this to allow better understanding on how to complete as this sounds good too and i could carry this out once i have the information.

May sound stupid questions but best be sure before i start hacking the car!!

cheers,

Ed.

Best to give Duncan a call as i had new map and Lee has a tweak, plus the dyno session, Duncan will be able to advise what you need and cost.

Porting of the OE headers is a basic gasket matching and smoothing of the ports. It's easy to do if you have such tools.
If you sourced a spare set of OE headers I could port them for you, then just swap before your next mapping. Spool is increased, increasing torque and the way the torque comes in. It's a worthwhile mod IMO.

As for the air box, I can show you on Sunday if you wish. It's also at the very start of my original project thread in the members gallery, ill look and find it for you.

I have a set of Harvey ported headers and matching up that will suit all VF and TD turbos, they are just sitting in the garage and as the car is going I might aswell sell these off.

Let me know if your interested.

No issues with standing water unless you were going past stuff up to the doors lol. In seriously heavy ran I could get the MAF wet but in all honesty it needs to be a monsoon for that to happen.
If you put some drain holes in the lowest point of the hose you will drain any water and still feed heaps of cold air.
On the stock air box this is as good as it gets. Well capable up to and over 400bhp.
That was the original thread that was superseded by the one that's in the project section. Those 2 threads will bore you into next week lol.

Bargain for that money mate. And you'll still have your oem headers to sell on. Just buy new DEI titanium heat wrap so they're freshly wrapped and its still great value IMO.
You couldn't buy headers and pay to have them ported plus the up pipe for that money so worth it all day.

My NPS arrived this morning from Improt car parts, OE item and half the price from the main dealer!
Just need to fit it along with the Walbro fuel pump

Part number fits 2001 to 2004 (not widetrack) for anyone that needs to know.
