Default Help please wrx losing power

Hi guys I'm new to the website. I have a wrx bug eye running around 300bhp. I was in second gear mid boost and I heard a caught and a splutter then I started losing power now the car sounds really throaty smells like petrol when I first start her up. When Even at idle it sounds a bit bouncy then If I put my foot on the accelerator it sort of stutters at first the revs up. The mechanic I took it too thinks it could be the spark plugs or coil packs but I'm not so sure it could be that? Any ideas would be much appreciated guys

Check your intercooler hoses, I had the same on my old classic STI - drove like a pig, coughing and spluttering and a jubilee clip had failed
