Can anyone give me any information on this car?
Hi all, i am new to scooby's but ive just brought one, can you check my profile picture and if anyone knows aout it then let me know please, i brought it from chelmsford, essex but came from kent before that. Apparently I heard its gotta japanese STI lump in it but is a uk turbo 2000 originally, just any information would be appreciated, thanks!
Also my plans for this are to take all the white stickers off, do the wheels black, have side skirts, mirrors colour coded and maybe have it stickered up in black? any thoughts on this?
cheers

it used to be a very nice car till the geeza that i sold it to crashed it!
if you need any more info pm me as i know that car inside out.

i just see in your profile too mate that its been remapped?? you will need to see if the ECU has been replaced with an Apexi (or such types) as that MY97 ECU could not be flashed. Chances are it has not been re-mapped as it would cost in the area of £1200 to do so. Judging by the state of the car now i would be very surprised if it has.
Sorry to be the one to tell you all this but you been sold/swapped a lemon fella.

Oh right well that's ok because I work in a garage, so can get it done there, I'll check out how much a crank is coz fitting will cost nothing! I had to swap him my car because bottom end was rattling and cat was all broken up, good job he didn't see it cold! My old engine I put sawdust in lmao! Engines on bm's are a bugger coz head bolts prone to sheer! Anyone know how much it is just for a crank? Not labour.

Yeah I get it at 20% off or something, I'll get prices tomorrow, I just called my work colleague who is a bit of a Scooby whizz and he said it drove fine cos he picked it up, and it's not leaking oil from seal and not making any noise so he said it should be fine, he said if it starts doing that then just put new crank in he said it's not the end of the world and not to worry at the moment, what's wrong with the roof?

if you take the pullys off it will show the crank filled with liquid metal.
the roof rotten, the sun roof leaks and theres rust all inside the A pillars where the sunroof drain pipes have split in its life time and the inside of the roof skin. Matey must of put a new roof lining on the car then? Its an after market sunroof that to original owner had put in as an Extra. there is a receipt in the history showing this if ya look.

Also I've taken the front mount off and put a top mount on as was giving severe turbo lag, so that is sorted, just needs some loving and some money spent really, which I don't mind doing, I will restore it to former glory!

that will be cheap then lol good lads up there just seem to charge a bit too much for my liking. MOCOM all the way here!!!!!
Crank wont be cheap and is a bit of a mission to change. If i were you whilst it is all stripped i would replace bearings, oil pump, water pump, head gaskets just to start with.

Nah it's got no roof liner but doesn't look rotten? I'm going to have a look at the crank bolt tomorrow I think, the engine you fitted, did it have the red inlet manifold? And is it likely to blow cos of the crank?

its a ticking time bomb mate. i spent 7 weeks building it from standard and it ran sweet and went like ****, drove the 2009 tunnel run will 100s of other scoobs and it keeped up with mapped cars. Goes to change the cam belt and found the crank. i did not drive it after that and sold it to some dude that works at a tyre place in Chelmsford. The roof skin has lots of 50p sized rust spots all over it.
i painted the inlet as i had the whole top end stripped and sat on my front room floor. every thing was replaced, ferbed and serviced before it went back on. Theres alot of peeps on here that can back me up on this but once i say that crank it was gone. Its not a easy 5 min job to do the crank as the bottom end needs to be split in half. I balanced up the options and got rid of it as i could not be arsed to do it all again. The front mount worked well as the turbo was running with no restrictor pill and had the magic touch of some ESC members. as said, it keeped up with a few members mapped cars on here on the tunnel run.
Seems the owner prior to you has made it a dog (no offence as its your new toy), i have heard all sorts of stories since i sold it. It has has a fire at some point round the turbo and it rear ended a 4x4 couple months back. Im honestly shocked its still running if im honest.
theres a build thread on here some with tons of pics.

Yeah I get ya, my colleague said you had to drop the engine out, but it's a job I don't mind doing, I've got rid of my old ****ter for it that needed 1000's spent to put right, literally came up with a list for my old bm to make it mint and was unreal! Plus my old bm was in a crash which would of wrote it off but I botched it up! One wing is out of line n slightly different shade but he didn't notice!
