6 month stag do!!!!!
For the past six months me and my mate have been restoring a triumph stag for a friend of his, it originaly started out as just a respray and cut out the rotten panels, not to hard we thought how wrong was we
First things first was to attack all the edges to see how much rust and filler was lurking under the paint, we'll did'nt take long and found it needed 2 new 1/4 panels, new n/s/f wing, new n/s door skin, new lower valance and 2 repair panels on the A posts but not as bad as we thought, while we was stuck into repairing it paul (the owner) decided he wanted a complete colour change iside and out which was frustrating because if we had known this we would of had the car dipped and stripped which would of saved time and mess, ha ho. we got the car paneled and filled by the end of jan, then gave it a good coat of polyester then flatted that then 3 good coats of primer and flatted that then the car was ready for colour by feb, car was in colour inside and out by the start of march. we have spent the last 2 months flatting and polishing and rebuilding it.
We've never had a car fight us so much, all parts were pattern parts (obviously) and nothing fitted or lined up which is great fun when paneling up on the final fit up we kept fitting the original parts then paul would say he was not happy with them so would order new parts so we had to do the job twice
But after 6 months of working from 6-9 nearly every week night we finaly finished last night
To say both our other halfs are happy now is an under statement and i now hate classic cars with a passion (yes i know i own a classic)
Here's some pics of what went on and how it turned out
how it started out
some of the rot and filler
how deeps that filler
be paneled up
all filled up and ready for primer
in primer
inside in colour
outside in colour
fit up
finished
sorry its a bit long and the pic's are'nt the best!!!!

I know how you feel about hating classic cars now. I am starting to feel the same about old British motor bikes. Skinned knuckles, cracked dry skin from soaking them in copious amounts of WD40 & petrol & scuffed bits where I caught the side of the polishing wheel.
It is starting to take shape now though which is spurring me on. The guy phoned tonight & is coming on Sunday now so I have a little longer for buftying.
