Default what bird is this??

saw it hovvering about when i was on one of my jaunts....




looks like it was after some small rodent of some kind.

as per normal, i had the wrong lens on my camera, but i know where he lives now

i've just posted on a geeky, orni...orna...orno........ erm. bird watcher site and someone
thinks it might be a kestrel.

wooo, i'm quite excited... never seen one in the wild before !!

time for a fully justifiable 400mm lens now

I think you'll find that is a kestrel, from memory the sparrow hawk has more than one dark band on it's tail.

Well you have shocked me - never expected to see an actual picture of a bird - was 100% sure it would be some half-dressed, malnourished bimbo in some sort of 'artistic' pose!

But yes - defo a kestrel - we have one that lives somewhere round the office - along with a buzzard & a woodpecker amongst other things!

Oh, and the lesser spotted Arkwright too!

Yep My first thought was kestrel... does no one remeber the old film Kes?

Once you start looking in the sky you will be amazed at how many you do see out there hovering especially on motorways (of course I am looking whilst my fool is driving)

So whats the new ESC fad gonna be... i could be interested in this one
