Welcome to Scoobynet and more importantly the home of the ESC!

The Scoob looks nice, must be a bit of a come down in power from an FQ300 to a WRX?

Hi Wesley,

I too have come from another manufacturer. I have sold my 200sx s13 which i have owned for 9 years, spent 20k and only done 6k in those years (partly due to a ban). I had a good understanding of 4cyl straight engines (like your Mits) and had my 92reg used in advertising for my insurance co... 340hp@flywheel Norris Designs hybrid T28, S14 everything, pistons, skyline injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, susp HKS Drager,Blitz TT ETC........the list goes on. I have just moved to the other end of country and am looking at spending 5K on a new project. It's a big nissan scene where i am from and a r32 skyline has been calling????? I fancy trying something new and wonder how you are getting on with the swap to a flat-four. I have noticed on the subaru forums that many more of these have had engine rebuilds or recons at very low miles (45-60) K compared to 100K on a 400BHP straight four from nissan or mits??? I have always been told that scoobs don't like mileage, whats your thoughts

Im not sure really when i was with the mlr you would find most evos have had a rebuild .. for me i have had 3 evos necver had a rebuild and two of the evos done over 130 before i sold them and there was no differnt in performance i guess as long as you service its reguarly it would be fine but if your going to raise the performance on any 4 cylinder engine is to do it a on a low milage its always risky to do it on any high mile engine

Welcome mate very tidy looking car,the early Evos with high mileage where prone to crank wall which was a bummer if you where to fall foul, but to keep and maintain was a chore in itself,as well as constant burden on the wallet.

Marky, a lot of it comes down to luck of the draw with the engines going pop.

I have had 4 turbo scoobs with various levels of power and mileage and had no problems on any of them.

Even had a classic with 120k on the clock when I sold it, full decat on that and no signs of any problems at all, as long as they have been warmed up and cooled down and regularly serviced they will last ages.

All IMO

Once a year or every 10K with an intermediate oil change @ 6 months or 5k if you want to give the engine a treat.
