Yeah, been to gaucho's before , but this is with my parents so needs to be more local, they won't set foot in the city too much hassle for them.

There is one in Hornchurch too mate, (if its still there) they can eat steak and you can get mangled on their cocktails!!!! (once again our drinks bill was more than the food in here)

local enough for a bit of "cab" action too if needed !

watch it though, dont tell them its your birthday.... the lights dim and they play "stevie wonder - happy birthday" to you.... and you thought their chicken supreme was cheesy??? pmsl let me know when you're going and what time.... hehehehhe !!

Nothing better in my opinion - expensive but best by far.

Try the steak sampler for £75 - 1200g of pure beef

Gaucho all the way if willing to travel.

If not I like Back Inn Time in Chelmsford. Sister restaurant to Simply Blues iirc. Nice little American Dinner style. Great cocktails too.

Well worth the money though. Get Karen to treat you. I got taken to lunch on a freebie at work when someone was after our business. 3 smaller steaks and a glass of wine each came to best part of £150!

Gaucho's has been done to death ... it's nothing special at all, good but nothing special - full of suits too.

You need to concentrate on boutique restaurants. For example ....

Santa María del Sur - Argentine Grill and Bar

I understand that they were featured on some Gordon Ramsey program so if he rates them it means they are awesome. I should add that I have been there five times and i've never had a better steak anywhere in this country.

Also the Ritz do fantastic steaks ... and they aren't as pricey as you might think.

Someone told me about a fantastic steak restaurant in Chigwell, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was

Must admit GS those steaks that the Santa Maria were cooking on the F word looked gorgeous. They're very well priced as well. Anywhere to park round there? Might book a table for my birthday.

It's awesome. What I like most is that (at the time) it wasn't full of city pr@ts .... (I dressed down that day ) so you had the warmth of a family run restaurant. Also you sit closer to people than you would normally and it makes the experience so much better.

If you like your beef then I recommend saving for a bit and going to Nobu. The Wagyu beef is absolutely awesome. melts in your mouth and worth going there just for it!
