My little say!
FFS what the smeg is going on in the ESC???
It seems to me that some people are out to wind up others and are gunning for rows and I'm sick and tired of it now and I can't be ar$ed with the ESC any more! If it wasn't for the fact that Wozzaa has just graphic'd up my car, it would be up for sale now with a Jaguar XK8 waiting to live in my garage.
Tiny and Karen have worked their ar$es off over the years organising events and meets and why should be they be expected to run around after everyone all the time?
I don't think there's an issue with cliqueyness, I've found that everyone is friendly and willing to have a chat. Just because people aren't invited to social gatherings don't mean to say that a "clique" has been formed - there's only so much room for people at some places.
When my brother died almost 2 years ago, I had loads of condolence messages, texts and calls from a lot of people within the so called "knitting circle" and out, it made me proud to be a part of the ESC, but now I don't bother anywhere as much as I used to. If anyone calls or PM's me - I'm more than willing to help people out but other than that, I'm just going to do my own thing from now on.
If you think the ESC is cliquey, you should try the "Sporting Escorts Club" or "Capri Club International" meets - they bring a whole new definition to the word.
With any club, you only get out what you put in and if you make an effort you WILL reap the rewards!
I know if I call anyone on here, they would gladly give advice or be straight over to help all they can, and I do exactly that. I may be quiet, but I do make an effort for the benefit of the club.
This is NOT aimed at anyone in particular, but recently there has been a lot of bickering recently. Not everyone will get on but can we keep things civil.
For the sake of the club, this bickering needs to stop. There are a lot of Scooby owners round my way and when I've told them about the ESC they say they have been on the forum, seen the rows and don't bother coming back anymore. Is this what you really want to continue happening?

Paul, Like most things in life you will always get people that are "jealous" for want of a better word, because they feel they are not involved as much as they would like.
i'm a bit like you... i really couldnt give a flying toss to some threads i have read on here.
Even prior to the official "ESC" days this club has and hopefully will remain more than just turn up and talk about your car. Dont get me wrong we all share the same love of scoobs, but this club is so much more than just the cars.
I should know, having owned my old blue scoob and now scoobless have probably been to more meets in a non scoob than a scoob.
Unfortunately though, there will always be those that want to put their 2 pennies in. I was just today reading a similar thread in scottish scoobs on SIDC.
As for anyone knocking the hard work both Tiny and Karen have put into what is now a massive club.....well they are not welcome on here IMHO.

G have never met you fella but am sure a few people would construd what you say as a little OTT.......but at the end of the day characters make a club, not matter if you love them or hate them....what a sad world it would be if we all thought the same.
as i said in my previous thread no matter if you have a scoob or not, get involved and enjoy.

Nice thread Paul & thanks everyone for the kind words , to be fair really it only is IMHO a few certain individuals who use this forum mainly to try & upset both myself & Karen & i know of a few other members who have been upset / threatened by the certain individuals recently as well , this club is far bigger & better than this/them & over the years the ESC has always pulled together in times like these & come out stronger in the end , I'm sure this will be proven to be correct again

Agree with all the above. Far to much bickering & negative vibes. Once a difference of opinion has been aired it's more mature to call it "water under the bridge" put a line under it & move on.
As for the issue with cliqueness. You will always get people that get on better with some rather than others. Likewise you will get some that have a clash of personalities. That's not being cliquey. That's life. You cannot make people like or dislike you it just happens. Your behaviour will however be a huge influence in how you are perceived.

G-Man there are no con artists or bullys within the ESC imho. If you have been genuinely bullied or conned in anyway by anyone then let everyone know who they are. There's no place in this club for either. It should also be reported to the moderators as this is in breach of the T&C's each user agrees to on sign up. You will however get tonnes of banter in this place. It just takes a while to get used to it and the style it takes.
My £0.02 worth (in addition to my post in the golf thread):
I for one at the moment feel ashamed to say I am part of the ESC. I no longer have an ESC badge or SIDC for that matter incase anyone thinks I'm part of the ESC (being the Essex chapter of the SIDC). I don't wear the T-shirts to events either. I even used to wear them when doing other things to promote the brilliant club it once was, but no more.
This isn't related to any one event in particular but the multitude and tirade of crap that gets posted up and goes on now. I do know that each day I feel less and less like checking in to see what's happening. I've noticed and even had pm, text messages and posts on Facebook from other members saying they don't bother posting up for the same reasons and more.
If I didn't already have something in the pipeline for the scoob then I really do feel like selling up. The only reason I'm carrying on with the plan is because I'm excited how my car will look once done. But, when I went out to move my scoob yesterday and heard a slight noise from the engine bay. It was running a little rough, I opened the bonnet and the coil pack has broken down and needs replacing. In truth I hoped it was the bottom end going so I had a good reason to sell it and get away for a while.
I try and arrange events when I can given the little spare time I have at the moment. The inclination for doing this has dropped off as well. Perhpas it is just time for me to move on instead. I know it's going to be far easier to walk away than try and salvage the small scraps that remain of what was once a brilliant club and group of friends. Do I feel like this "club" is worth saving? No, not in the slightest at present.

i have already aired the fact i was con`d into thinking essex tuning solutions was a propper company, and having a set of wheels, a spoiler and splitter ruined. have not ben personally bullyed but i know of others that have by other members and its not my place to say who.
2p back
i will also add, if it was not for ESC i would not have the extra few good mates i now have. not all things are bad.

As far as I'm concerned that is not an ESC matter. It's a transaction outside of the ESC. Both parties just happen to be members. How the transaction was handled is a different matter.
Correct, it's not your place to say who if it wasn't you and that is to be commended. If you encourage said persons though to air the problem that should also be commended as it may pave the way to attempt to sort things out.

Can't wait to get some handling mods on especially as I want to do more track days. I haven't been to the monthly meets for a while but that's not because of the current state of atmosphere in the ESC but just been too busy lately. Really hope to get to a few meets in the future though

TBH i am not sure what has been going on, however.... one of the best evenings out i have had in a long time was the ESC go karting last week.
Although i don't go to many of the meets, whenever i do the members are always willing to chat and have a great laugh.

I know we've had our share of village idiots recently but I'm not sad about the club. I am always happy to see another smiling ESC face and for the most part that feeling is mutual. I still get a buzz when I see members I haven't seen for a while, or if people turn up who weren't down as coming. It takes ages to meet everyone and even after 4 years I am still forging friendships with new people that I just hadn't got round to getting to know yet. For those that feel sad on a macro level rest assured that for everything you see that's negative, there's loads of positive stuff going on at the micro level. Watch our space, the best is yet to come
