Don't get me started on this!!!!
Why do we need a seperate one you have Scoobynet which is a forum and SIDC a national club
Think about organising the Tunnel run do we want it just with Essex People
Do you know there are nearly 100 individual Subaru Forums why start another one when you have free access to 2 of the most popular ones
The Evo owners have one major site with a couple of pretenders there buying power is so much stronger as a result

It all sounds good in theory but it ain't so easy in practice. Think what it would take to organise a village fete then times that by ten then do it month after month & you can't let up for a moment or it all unravels. That's what it takes to run a busy thriving site.
Like you said it's easy to set one up even a meerkat has done one. The hard bit is keeping it going.
I am a moderator over on Scoobycity & have been involved with the running of their site for years. If you could see just a bit of what has to go on behind the scenes to keep it up & running with minimal cost yet still giving a site that isn't naff you would realise. Lots of clubs have tried & failed.
You need a "Team" to run the thing as it doesn't just "happen" it needs a reliable group of volunteers that are there for the long haul not just flitting in & out again after a couple of months. That team has to work on the site 24 7 as problems can crop up anytime. Fitting that in around jobs, kids & everyday life is not that easy.
So you can see the benefit of sub letting our home here on SN. Not perfect but the heating works & the roof don't leak.
