Default CRANK BEARING???

I know this is the wrong section for this thread, but didn't have much luck in General Technical.
More people seem to be here, so i hope someone can help.

I seem to have a knocking/tapping sound coming from the head, and appears when the engine is hot. Someone has already looked at it and we are pretty sure its the crank. I was also told when the mot was done that it has a slight oil leak from where the crank is as well.

Would anyone be able to give me a rough quote for the job labour/parts, ( someone who can do this themselves, not someone that has had it done).

I probably wont be able to get back on the net until next weekend, so if possible a text to : 07535211237 would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Scot.

sound coming from the head and you think its the crank?

in that case it sounds like the problem is that your crank has moved from the block to the head mate lol !!!

I no nothing about this sort of thing, so was looking for help rather than sarcasm.

Surely someone knows who might be able to do this sort of job????

If theres enough clearance around the big end ... due to extreme bearing failure the piston can contact the cylinder head and make a knocking noise ...
