As title,
If I bought an Ecutek ECU that is from a uk STi 7 will it work on my wrx?
Or will it be too much hassle getting it to work

Tony, my ECU has been mapped on opensource software
So thought getting a 2nd hand ecutek ECU would save the initial £500 odd to get the licence etc.
If I can't do that I will end up getting a simtek and ALS
Can also run 2 maps that way as well I think.

Duncan will confirm but I'm sure he said that the car was easier to drive on part throttle with the Solaris as it has better control. You can still have ALS and LC too. Plus pretty sure that it has more features than the Simtek.
Might have to save the pennies to get one for mine

Dave as far as the maths go by getting an ECUTEK ECU with a pre existing license your remapping would be typically c.£345 Inc VAT + the ECU £?. This means you would need to get the License for less than £287.50 to save any money.
I wouldn't bother with trick ECU's as your car will run tidy on OEM settings for knock/idle etc with the additional benefits of ECUTEK remapping. Get Simon or a.n. other to play about with overruns and the demist button 2nd map option ? for pretty much most of the boys toys you get with simtek.
