just be carefull when you use it. I would rather get someone experienced to clay my car and I have done on several occassions.

I will let the experts explain, have a look at what polished bliss sat:
Car Care Advice - Clean - How to clean your paint in preparation for polishing or protection
I'm sure that Matt (mneame) and Stu 53WRX will also give you some advice.
It may be I am just a lightweight wuss

Yep, you're a wuss

With the Meguirs clay bar kit, you'll get a clay bar and a spray bottle of quick detailer, spray the detailer on the car and rub the claybar on the paint work, when the clay bar gets dirty, fold and manipulate it to get clean and rub aaway again. What ever you do, DON'T use the clay bar on dry paint, make sure the area is wet with the quick detailer. after cleaning, wipe the detailer off with a microfibre cloth.

Megs quick clay kit is the best one to start with. It's about as mild as claybars come. There are harder ones out there but you'll need to polish your paint after (which you should do anyway after claying really). Be carefull as you can easily inflict severe marring that hand polishing alone may not remove.
Here's what you should do:
jet wash the car down,
foam with foam gun and good foam mix (super snow foam, hyper wash etc),
leave to run off (5 mins roughly),
rinse with jet wash,
light foam,
wash with 2 bucket method (2bm),
rinse with jet wash,
dry,
spray pannel with quick detailer (qd) and clay,
mould the clay to expose a fresh area of claybar and keep going until the clay is not contaminated,
work around the whole car until done, if the clay becomes dirty soak in clean warm water with some car shampoo for a few mins and mould,
rinse with jet wash,
foam & soak,
rinse with jet wash,
dry.
The paint is now ready to polish. Once polished seal with a a quality sealant or wax. Polish alone will not protect your paint!
rinse with jet wash

Just to add the claying process alone should take you up to 2 hours with the quick clay kit depending on who contaminated your paint is. Or you can do what i do and get an aggressive clay bar to get it done in about half hour. But you have to without fail polish afterwards.
I keep forgetting JJ has your old car. I doubt that it needs claying at all.
Easy way to tell, wash the car and run the back of you index finger against the paint. If it feels smooth then it's fine. If it's rough it needs claying.

Sonus Green is idiot proof, no pun intended but I would definitely recommend this for you to start with.
- Sonus Green Ultra Fine Detailing Clay Elite Car Care
You can still **** your car up with the Megs Clay without proper lube, but the sonus less so.
Best value lube for claying has to be a gallon of Meguiars Last Touch Spray.
- Meguiars Last Touch Spray Detailer - 1 Gallon / 3.78 Litres Elite Car Care

Not a fan of the Sonus. Never managed to get on with it. Have heard good things about the Bilt Hamber once you get the hang of claying as you can use this with water rather than qd as lube. I have access to buy the Dodo claybars at good prices though
Last Touch is def the best value if you're going to be claying a lot. Works out to about £17 for 7.5 litres of detailer as you can cut it down with water 1:1.
About time i sorted out the thread about who wants what. Anyone fancy starting a group buy

Cheers fellas for all the tips and advice, its just when i did have the car, cant remember when not seen it in ages, someone next door spraying there car with tin of paint . the spray went over mine, tried wet and dry but made paint look flat>>
Of course wet and dry will make the paint flat. you're sanding it. Clay bar won't remove this as it's a defect rather than a contaminent. It will however remove the over spray. You'll need something like Menzerna RD3.02 and a German Applicator Pad to remove the wet sanding marks.
