The guy at Wickford aquatics buys loads of 2nd hand stuff for stock, might be worth a call. I sold my old pond set up and fish to him and he paid a fair price.

Wickford Aquatics are cheap for stock, but I wouldn't buy any live stock from there.
The marine looked half dead last time I visited and quite honestly the conditions looked shocking!!!!
Not so sure what there cold water selection is like...

I used to keep KOI at my last house, sadly not enough room for a big pond at our current house. I had used most of the aquatics shops near me and as far as KOI are concerned i would only buy from Manor KOI in pound lane benfleet area, not the cheapest but very helpful, very knowledgeable and always willing to help and their filter systems are the dogs danglies
Wickford aquatics can be good for equipment and you can haggle on price for just about anything there.
Manor also do tropical and marine and their tanks always look clean and fish healthy, only let down for aquarium fish is they dont have a huge stock.

The guys at manor koi are genuine enthusiasts and know their stuff unlike some other shops that just employ anybody who can catch a fish and bag it for you. If they dont know the answer they will honestly tell you, not full of bullsh1t like some shops. Give them a try.

Erm Yes.

Have just bought 2 tanks, but have not installed them yet.
Have a couple of books to read before we go and buy any fish, plus ESB30 is going to assist in setting up, etc.

Hopefully the big tank will go on the wall today.

Here is a link that may help

Nitrates in the Aquarium - Coping With Nitrates in the Aquarium

We change approx 200 litres (a water butt full) of water in our tank every 2 weeks, this is because we have a rather large MBU Pufferfish, as he doesn't have scales he more sensitive to the nitrates and if too high will kill him.

Make sure where you mount on the wall will be easy to clean and maintain water removal and replacement.

Wow - and clearly lived to tell the tale!!

Used to dive when we lived abroad - great hobby, a different world - best I've seen were wild Porpoises & electric eels. Got Coz snorkelling a couple of years ago & she loves it now!

Still can't beat swimming with the dolphins in a little mangrove swamp off the carribbean!! Very natural and extremely moving!

Steve, cardboard it the new glass!

It looks a bit like a plasma TV / Picture Frame when fitted, it's 1800 wide x 600 high, but the tank is only about 100-150 mm deep. I think it only holds about 40L. Mike and I are fitting it this pm, so will post some pic's once it is on the wall.

Vette, absolutely, though possibly i'm not as daft as I make out sometimes?

Neil,

Tank looked great on the wall....
Can't wait to see some fish in it...

Although I wouldn't change 50% in one change... 25% would be more like it...

Any Pics??

Like I said we only do a 50% water change as we have a Giant MBU Pufferfish and as he doesn't have scales then he is more sensitive to the Nitrate
