I might be wrong but I think the original post is about the actual plates being stick on rather than being stuck on with sticky pads etc...

As long as the white background is reflective,the numbers are the correct size & correct space apart.cant see any problem,im sure one of our friends from the boys in blue here could shed some light on this 
You could alway remove the front spots & put a square plate on the passenger side & use the drivers side for cold air inlet
or a train horn

They will also minimise the branding so it's a nice clear looking plate too.

stick on plate
hi m8 , iv ad loads off agro with the police over this and the outcome was a stick on plate is perfectly ok as long as positioned central on bonnet and in cameras view and it meets legal size requirements as with a fmic there is no place for a plate and they said at pitsea police station it was fine and no more was ever said i hope this helps ya out all the best bud
