Default Anyone able to PAT test a few hand tools for me ..?

As title really .. See we have a few bright sparks in the house , i have a new "red tape" job starting Monday 29th & my power tools need pat testing .

only need a couple of battery drills / chargers & a percussion drill & a couple of 110V leads tested

The last job i was on i got a load of the stickers to say they have been pat tested but this time the main contractor is also asking for the official certification to go with it as well .

Anyone able to help ?

Not exactly true mate, some sites require a PAT certificate to proove the tools are in a safe working order.

We have a contract at Heathrow T5 and they're asking for certificates, and tool not listed will not be allowed on site

pat test stickers, Business, Office Industrial items at low prices on eBay.co.uk

http://www.heatshrink-online.co.uk/h...st-Labels.html

I did the IOSH Managing Safety at Work Pt1 & 2 exam, a few years back so things may have changed, but back then PAT testing was not a legal H&S requirement. It may be a condition on an insurance policy, but otherwise it isn't (wasn't ?) a legal requirement.

Well, put it this way, if tools are not PAT tested, or expired, you can be kicked off site

Some sites are more strict than others, as I mentioned above, Heathrow T5 wants printed certificates to prove the tools are safe to use.

We also have contracts in France and there, they have to produce PAT certificates, and all manuals for the tools. In the case of large plant, I have to supply evidence that the machines have adequate safety measures in place, ie limit switches on removable grilles so that if the grilles are removed, the machine is inoperable

All this is diluting the human gene pool by ensuring stupid people live long enough to breed. Darwin will be turning in his grave

Don't worry, this only ensures they should not electrocute themselves.
It does not cover competence to use the equipment so they can still harm themselves,
watching a tree surgeon outside my house yesterday, stand on top of 10 ft opening ladders, with a chainsaw in his hand leaning out whilst cutting me conifers was really quiet worrying, especially as i'm not good with blood!

You don't need to be, just good at laughing, and trying to recompose yourself whilst calling an ambulance

Not true mate, the worse thing I've seen is a 110v 16A lead had been cut by a grinder, so exposing just the live conductor, the muppet on site tried to repair it by using self adhesive foil tape
