Default MOT Failure, Help Needed!!

Me scooby failed its mot on saturday on emissions. Also found a hole near the centre cat (car has two cats, one centre and one on downpipe), i think?

Garage reckon the centre cat needs replacing, but my mate says it could be the lambda sensor?

Any ideas on how i could find out which it is or what might be prone to go???

2 coil packs did fail recently which i gave now sorted. I wasn't using the car when this happened, only noticed after i changed the rocker gasket.

Car has already been off the road for 5 weeks.

Scotty.

you took it to the wrong garage

Saying that a hole in the exhaust is not a good thing.

Emissions aren't usually a problem I've heard at some garages. Allegedly.

Guys I think you are talking at crossed purposes.

I so hope I am not talking out my bum on this one.

Chris is on about some garages in general. Allegedly.

Paul is on about a specific one.

HTH & where's my pop corn.

need all the details from the emissions sheet they should have given you with the failure sheet. if the lambda reading was high you may get away with having the hole welded. if co,s are still high try fuel conditioner and a hard blast to see if the cat will burn clean. the coil packs may have damaged the cat beyond saving but its worth a try.

Most cars usually pass with just one of the cat's in place() If you want i have a centre section with no cat just a resonator box.
