Thumbs down ive lost my licence :(

late last year i got clocked doing 73 mph in my work van on the a303. already having 3 points and being within my 2 year "new driver period" that would take me to 6 points. went to magistrates who basicly said tuff... heres 3 points i appeled aganst it and took it to crown court hoping for a better decision as i drive for a living and would loose my job, house n everything. after being ajerned a couple of weeks ago until a later date i was told i could still drive as crown court have come to no verdict.

on the m4 today on way to wales to get a call from my missis saying dvla want my licence. so i rang them and explaned its gone to crown and a verdict has not been made. in short.. duff tittys! i been driving for the last week un insured as i have had my licence revoked and i need to re-take both my tests again!!!

Thanks... this country takes the ****... cant even tell a man if he can drive or not!! the only man that can tell me is my breef who is "away till monday" so im now sat in wales at my mates house wondering if i can drive home or not!

not a happy bunny and i think im gonna have to sell the scooby as i aint gonna be able to insure it again as a new driver?? will my no claimes still count?

disscuss.....

MUPPET!!!!!!!

DD is the worst kind of drivers on the road, you deserve to lose your licence for at least 5 years if you drink and drive!

At least you (may) have learned your lesson, and i hope your insurance company cripple you for the next few years........

I can't believe you got clocked for 73 in a 70 - or was it a 60 mph road? Takes the **** if you you were on a stretch of dual carriageway.

I'm glad when i passed my test this 2 year malarky wasn't law.

there is a law stating that LGV i.e a small transit and upwards on a 2 lane duel carrageway that is 70 for a car, is limited to 60. if iwas in the car i would of been ok.

i did not know this... i thought it was for 7.5 ton and above motors.

ahh well... fooked now!

Thing is, i am FULLY INSURED, a drink driver loses this because he/she is over the DD limit, therefore having NOTHING if they are involved in an accident!

Take the **** out of me as much as you like, but at least i am LEGAL.

As for the young driver thought it was ok to do 70 in any motor up to 7.5, maybe it is a good thing he will have to re sit his test, and pay more attention to the highway code.

I HATE drink drivers with a passion, one KILLED a friend of mine back in 93, and all he got was a 6 month suspended sentence and a 2 year driving ban!!!!

Rules abroad, NO DRINK if you drive, this country is way behind with that ruling........

All i get from most on here is abuse, i am saying IN GENERAL EVERYONE who drink drives deserves a spell inside, and a 10 year driving ban!

ALL large vehicle drivers should know the rules regarding speed, and if the van was newer than 55 plate, then it should have been fitted with a limiter, unless it is for personal use?

Personaly i dont care what you all say about me, i was silly the other night and lost it on a roundabout, i DONT drive fast round built up areas, like some of you in here do, tesco's car park for one, busy at 7pm most saturdays, and just how fast do you all think the speed limit is for a BUSY car park?

And your calling ME a ****.........lol

Pezza, in this instance I do actually agree, anyone done for DD deserves all they get and more.

Anyone that comes on here and is holier than thou regards driving quickly, maybe in places that are not ideal is almost certainly a hypercritical. We own scoobs or other quick cars, because they are quick, and therefore to one extend or another we use them.

At last.........somebody finally understands what i am posting!

Yellow, as you have said, we ALL own fast cars, we got them for the speed and the camabilitys of the car, i went over my limit the other day and now i have learnt my lesson.

Why oh why are people so clicky in here, you are either in, or out, anough abuse for one day, im off to drive fast!

The decision to take a bend fast is an excercise in judgement.

The decision to drive after drinking is a lack of judgment...

The driver who decides to take their favourite bend fast will then in all liklehood excercise their judgment to drive slower/more appropriately during the remainder of the journey. The drink driver has impaired their judgment for the whole of the journey.

One is in a completely different category to the other.

The argument "I only had 1" just demonstrates the lack of judgment further.

as said in your roundabout thread.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

corse no 1 agrees with drink driving thats stating the obvious!

but look at the start of thread and why i lost my licence. saying perhaps its good i lost my licence and i gotta re-take my test is a good thing is just keyuntish! i drive for a funeral company delivering the dead, i was caught out due to some gay law passed in the 60`s coz vans could not stop as quick then.

you explane to my 6 year old boy and my 5 month old baby why daddy cant goto work any more, or take them shopping or take the out some where nice?? whislt ya at it you can tell the rent man why i cant pay them too!! OOOH and whilst im on a rant.... explane to the kids again why we mite have to move to nannys coz daddy cant pay rent!!

my situation is no where near the DD issue so its pointless saying it!

imo pezza you dig your own holes with the things you say! come on to a car forum asking why you lost it on a round about is just stupid! and you wonder why you get abuse!!

rant over!!

any other questions?

Read the pm i sent you, my first post on this thread was aimed at someone else (also a DD) and they replied in topic!

Yes you should have known the speed you are limited to if driving a large vehicle, maybe you thought you know already, maybe not, but you was over the speed limit and got caught.

Yes it is unfair if you was only a few mph over, but take into account that you had been drinking, you was not 100% concentrating on the road, thus you may have had an accident.

I do hope you have learned from this lesson, i did back in the early 90's when i got banned for topping up on points (speeding) and have had a clean licence ever since.
