I personally would start searching the classifieds and dig out all cars relevant to yours. preferable the higher priced ones. Then have some ammo when they give you a low offer. Also as our transit you will be able to buy it back for 10% of the offer. can be cheap as hell to just break and make a few £££'s more. considering all the work completed of late.

I know it’s a few years ago now but I had a bug eye WRX in 2006 that a paid £7200 for and 6 weeks later I has a slight sideways encounter with a tree at 50mph and that was a right off, I accepted their first offer for that as it was £8600

We have just had the same nick with our transit. we had thought about selling it as the london low emmision zone was coming into force and that meant £100 per day to move it outside our yard. Boris has scrapped this for now. TBH we would be lucky to sell for £2k i would think. when our £2500 offer appeared we took it AND bought it back for £250 as an easy repair.

Oh, I agree totally - in either of your positions I would have taken the money & run - rather than wait another 2 weeks for them to shuffle their papers!!

The "engineer" who came out today seemed quite fair. Said his report would be put in today - so i'll call the insurers tomorrow to chase it up - its all the inconvenience of it all really! And i'm pretty gutted that she'll be going and reduced to "spares"
