am i getting ripped off !!!!!!!!!!!!
hi all 
ive managed to obtain an oil leak,its dripping on to the exhaust and when im stop a lovely cloud of oily smoke emerges from the front grill and surrounding ereas
.ive been told its more likelty to be the rocker cover gaskets as they are prone to leaking which i understand but ive been quoted £ 250 + vat
from some local garage,i know that scoobs are not cheap to run and repair but i felt that the price was a bit steep,
can anyone help with either the price or the repair , any input would be gratefully recieved

open the bonnet and see if its coming from behind the turbo, if so its the turbo side rocker cover gasket.
iirc thats prob not that unreasonable price. (although times might have changed and the price gone up/down lol)

The rocker cover gaskets are a common fault. The heads are directly above the exhaust manifold and the heat dries the rubber gaskets out causing the failure.
If this is the problem then £250 is totally excessive as the gasket kit costs around £25 which comes with the main rocker cover gasket, 2 sparkplug gaskets and 6 bolt seals (one side only)

you are most definately being ripped off !!!! dont know how they have the cheek to even try and charge so much,sounds to me that they saw a scooby driver and decided to relieve you of loads of your hard earnt cash!!!!
can think of a place in chelmsford who would only charge you half that lol !!!!

well guys, im really impressed with the response ive had,not only have i had offers to have a look at my oil leak ive had some prices,and let me just confirm what you have all said ," i would have been ripped off " ,would like to thank again all those that helped especially leemondo and cornelius BIG THANKS TO YOU GUYS !!!!!!!!!

thanx guys at least i know that whist im waiting for the work to be done ive got a chance to try out these guys biscuit selection,now that seems like the best deal of the day,LOL ,WELL DONE CHAPS !!!!!!!!!! LMAO
