Default So i've been fighting the urge..

...but i think im going to give in and buy a HKS SSQV. I know they're not everybodies cuppa, and have read alot about BOV's causing lumpy idle and having problems, but then i've also read about people running them for years without any probs

A search reveals the the HKS seems to be the best one for Impreza's (any one got any experiences?) - lets hope i can still pick up a shell suit and burberry cap to go with it

On a serious note - how easy are these to fit - i guess just undo the existing bolts take off standard one and then refit new one?

Go for it i say, everyone is different - i have a DV26 which has a bad rep but i like it, I am planning to get a recirc one too to try.

I couldnt live with the SSQV though as it releases pressure at all rev ranges not just when making positive boost - i found it a bit annoying! At least with something like the dv26 and other vta you can keep it "stealth" if you want

However on the flip side the SSQV i have had experience of (on a friends car btw) was much quieter than the dv26 when dumping - just my experience

I had a SSQV on my WRX when I got it and to be honest it drove me mad after a couple of months, so I junked it and now run with no DV, sounds interesting sometimes

I've got the HKS SSQV and I don't particularly like the noise, though like the chatter from the new K&N air filter

As mentioned, when the scoob is back on the road in a couple of weeks, I'm going have a play with running no DV

been having a further look and now the APS BOV sounds interesting. Its a recirc when pootling along , but VTA when pressing on therefore eliminating any potential idling problems

Sounds ideal really, and theres also one in the for sale section.....

The APS item is very good AFAIK, but the Tial is about the best money can buy,

All VTAs dont make the car run as nice as the OEM recirc one. Unless you go MAF-less, speed density or a blow through setup.

Lol, Just couldnt live with one mate.

Banned from all but the noisest of track days.
Hurts your ears to have the windows down. It would be so easy to have a screamer setup on mine as i wouldnt have the agro of plumbing it back in.

Deffo agree on the sound of a YB

I've got the Forge VTA one and it's excellent, i can pootle around town without it dumping, then when out of town have some fun.

Constant venting makes one look silly and get bored of it very quickly.

No idling issues at all and I fitted it in under 5mins.

had the HKS fitted to my old classic and loved it you could quite easily poddle around without it making a noise and you also have the added bonus of being able to make them louder/quieter.
that along with the front mount i had fitted sounded fantastic

Doesn't the VTA mess up your AFR though ? I am not snobby about the noise, I can't really be going on the noise my DV delete makes, but purely on safety and reliability isn't it a significant backward step ?

The VTA does mess up the AFR the moment after it dumps, but it wont do any damage. Its does make for a lumpier drive though as said if its not on a MAFless, speed density or blow through setup.
