CHILDREN IN NEED CONVOY FRIDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2008
CHILDREN IN NEED CONVOY TO NORWICH
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 14TH
(Early Evening)
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 14TH
(Early Evening)
For the sixth year running, the ESC will be helping Scoobycity in supporting the BBC's Children In Need appeal, with their now-famous, and magazine featured Charity Convoy through Norwich City Centre.
If you've never been on this before, you've missed out on one of the most satisfying, enjoyable and worthwhile events of the year.........where else would you get a convoy of dozens of Scoobs, creating havoc by taking over the city centre roads, making a complete spectacle of themselves, whilst raising money and doing it all with the support of the Norfolk Constabulary?
Last year, we raised several thousand pounds, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves into the bargain. A £5 per car donation can be made on the night please & would be greatfully received.
Sponsor forms are available from the BBC Children In Need website
Once again, this year we will have the full support of the Norfolk Constabulary (thanks to Dirty Harry .44), to lead the convoy, and to block off the junctions, roundabouts etc so we can enjoy uninterrupted progress through the city.
This year will be an optional fancy dress affair!!!
After the convoy there will be a gathering for a drink & some food at The Village Inn, Little Melton, just out of Norwich before we head back.

THE NORWICH BIT !!!
This is the timetable of events for next Friday.
1. Meet up at Makro, Broadland Business Park, Cranley Road, Norwich - NR7 0WE , from 6.30pm onwards. Please park at the bottom end of the car park, away from the customer entrance.
CLICK FOR MAKRO MAP
2. See one of the organisers (we'll be the people wearing high-viz jackets), and hand over your £5 per car entrance money, plus any other sponsorship/donation money - if possible, let us know how much you've collected so we can keep a running total.
3. When directed, the convoy will form up behind the Police escort vehicle.
4. At about 7.30pm, the convoy will depart, being led by the Police escort vehicle, with another marked car bringing up the rear. The speed will be low, please maintain the gap to the car in front, leaving sufficient braking room of course!!! The junctions and traffic lights will be blocked off by the Police to allow us unhindered progress, THIS INCLUDES GOING THROUGH RED LIGHTS - DO NOT STOP UNLESS TO AVOID AN INCIDENT OR UNLESS DIRECTED TO DO SO BY AN OFFICER!!!!
5. There will be a regroup point on Lower Clarence Road - please do not leave your vehicles. We will also be halting temporarily adjacent to Castle Mall.
MAP OF LOWER CLARENCE ROAD
MAP OF CASTLE MALL
6. Number of vehicles permitting, we will be parking up on the pedestrianised area of Gentlemans Walk. Please park where directed by the Police, and do not wander too far from your car as we will then need to reform for the last leg to The Village Inn (School Lane, Little Melton - NR9 3AD ) If the convoy is not reformed under Police escort, please make your own way to the Village Inn, remembering at this point that we will no longer be under escort and the junctions WILL NOT be blocked off, so obey the laws of the road!
MAP OF GENTLEMANS WALK
7. The Village Inn are expecting us, and have set aside their 100-seat function room. Any overspill can use the normal restaurant. Their carvery will be operating at £3.50 per head.
MAP OF VILLAGE INN
Please also remember that all the Police officers and Special Constables have given up their free time to help us out with this event, so please be courteous and appreciative of their efforts. It really could not happen without their input and assistance.
Above all, be safe, have fun, and remember WHY we're doing this event in the first place

Please come along and support our fundraising efforts guys. The ESC have traditionally been massive supporters of our cause and you've always swollen the numbers impressively, it won't be the same without a mahoosive posse coming up from Essex!
Hope to see loads of you on Friday.
Cheers one and all
