Vulcan XL426 @ Southend last Saturday
The Vulcan restoration trust who look after Vulcan XL426 at Southend airport recently held some auctions on ebay. The auctions were for 5 photographers passes for the planned engine cycles (to full power) and the taxi back to her stand. There was also an auction to sit in the co pilot seat during the engine runs and taxi.
I won 1 of the photographers passes and here are some my photos from last Saturday, hope you like them
The engineering team start preparing her for the engine cycles and taxi run:
There was time for a quick game of hide and seek
And then a final brief before moving her into position for the engine runs....
It was then time to climb aboard, first Keith who paid £554.26 to sit in the co pilot seat
Before the special guest a sprightly Bill Stableford, who designed the systems on the Vulcan, climbs up to take his seat
It was then time to get the tow bar attached:
Probably the last chance to get these 2 in the same photo....
Preparing to start the engines:
And then time to put her on full throtle
After that she taxiied back to her place and it was time to push her back:
A delighted Bill Stableford
And the lucky ebay winners pose with Bill Stableford, Gp Cpt Bill Burnett and VRT engineers.
A huge thanks to all at the VRT, a day that I'll never forget

Only one other aircraft that can compare to the Vulcan, and typical politics....sorry, ment B.A. stopped her flying back in 2003.
