Default Advise needed for a newbie

Hi guys and gals,
ok as a newbie not only to the club but to scoobies in general, im after some advice, ive got a late classic impreza, its a uk 00, very nice and i love it, when I got it it was unmolested, not even a dump valve, anyway ive brought a 2nd hand forge dump valve for it, not very happy with it tho, its very quiet and I have to give it some to get it to dump, so im looking for a replacement, im working on a budget so cant afford the hks etc, ive been warned off baily dump valves, ive just seen 1 called LMA do any of you know these? anygood? of suggestions please

A good suggestion.......get rid of dump valve!

Car sounds just about right without one, thats why i took mine off.

I noticed it used more jungle juice too, as it is hard to find a CHEAP petrol station, i have resolved to going back to basics.

Hi & welcome

We have UK99 classic. We have a bailey dump valve and I've never known it to have a flat spot and it seems to doing just fine. Also, I think you'll find alot of cars on here run on Tesco 99. We had ours mapped and thats the way it was set up. We did try the V-power - but tbh - the car never ran prperly on that - seemed to choke

Anyway - good luck

Hiya,
thanks for advise and welcome,
the problem I have is not knowing anything about dump valves I can only be advised by others, maybe I should try a baileys??
as for v.power, the guy i brought it off only ever put that in and was told the same from the bloke he got it from, so rather than tempt fait I think i'll stick with it, lol.
Thanks again

Welcome to the forum.

If it is an unmolested classic then you should be able to run it in any SUL without issues. Running on a specific rating is usually because the car is an import or the car has been mapped to run on a specific fuel rating.

In relation to the dump valve. Keep the standard re-circ valve on it.

If unsure, do a search in the general technical forum for dump valves and I'm sure you will find many threads and the general consensus is to leave the standard one alone.

All the best

Hi mate, Welcome to the esc . I have a uk my99 with a baily chav valve and there has never been a problem with it at all, if your still in doubt get one from ebay and try it out and if your not happy with it sell it on.

hope this helps
