Thanks Dazza...
Had a few computer issues, last night, and had to do a "system Recovery" After the restore had a slight problem (not just files being all over the place and half the links missing )..... NO INTERNET
Dazza took time out this afternoon to come round and assist, and while not being able to rectifying the problem, he identified it and gave me enough pointers to be able to get back online once I'd bought a new Modem.
Thanks a million.

nice one brian, glad you got it sorted.
much better way to go with a router than a usb modem.
also by setting it up yourself, you now know how to do it.
was going to ring you last night, but thought you might have drop kicked the pc out the back door, so thought better of it lol
catch you later

Ian, i had a sneaky feeling that the sky router might be proprietory to sky broadband, and lo and behold when we logged into it, there were no ADSL settings to change, just the other netgear items (firewall / wireless etc)
i'm sure the bios can be flushed on these, but for the price of routers these days, not realy worth faffing about with. (thanks for the password by the way!!!) lol and Ali's advice in the background for using the "keep me handy card" LMFAO.!!!
