From memory was this not something that ecutek put into the software? only the person who actually mapped the car can do it again or a new liceince again needed?

Its something Ecutek do so that only an Ecutek dealer can reflash the ECU. Shame they fail to tell you this when you have your car mapped.

No another licence fee is not required.

If you ever wanted to map your car thereafter with your own software, you couldnt because Ecutek lock it.

For the reasons Frayz has pointed out, the Ecutek map just doesn't seem to be doing what is should, my brothers car is also not running as it should, all he wants is the bloody ECU unlocked so he can have someone else map it.

Surely ECUtek should not be allowed to lock you out of your own ECU ?

IIRC £100 buys you software and dongle to your own personal Simtek ECU.

EcuTek license fee buys you ****

I thought the ecutek only 'locked' the map for a certain amount of time 6/12 months? Thereafter it can be accessed, but only by a ECUtek mapper?
