Default Check engine light is on

Hi all, just got back from holiday and fired the scooby up for the first time in 17 days.
She started first time, a bit rough at first but she idled ok. The check engine light has stayed on though. Is the check engine light a sign of impending problems? Would it be safe to take her to the McRae gathering with the light on? I may not have a chance to have her looked at before then

I left the engine on for 10 mins before driving back to mine, about 5 miles. I've had no problems at all until now, just seems odd the light has come on after the car hasn't been started for 2.5 weeks.
I took it easy driving back to mine but it drove fine and there were no unusual noises. The engine was fully rebuilt by Subaru and has covered 34,000 miles since then so I hope it's nothing serious

Key on and start the car, then turn it off fully inc the ignition. Do this 4/5 times in quick succession. It should cancel the mil light.

If your about near lakeside way mate, let me know. I can plug my PSi3 into it for you and get the fault code and reset the ECU. I haven't fitted my PSi3 yet, so its out ready to plug in. It should tell you what the previous fault was too.
