Default Camera question

with this thunderstorm crashing about tonight, reminded me of when I used to use an old SLR camera with a remote cable release for taking pictures of lightning, is this possible with digital cameras? I'm not looking for an expensive digital SLR as I can't afford one, but does anyone know of a cheapish one which the shutter speed can be adjusted?

It's awesome here mate !!!!

Little Bibos pooing it though....

Cheers for Sat. I managed to get one caliper on tonight other one tomorrow.

Is it normal to have no brake pedal due to needing a bleed...?

Depends on how much adjustment you're after. My Fuji S5600 (non SLR) goes from 1000th/sec up to 3 secs. Sure there will be other mid range digitals that can do longer exposures.

hijack my thread why don't ya lol

Yes mate, if you disconnect the brake hoses, you will lose the brakes as air is now in the lines and callipers, just a simple case of bleeding the system to get all the air out mate.

Have you got axle stands, it will be much easier to take all the wheels off while the car is on stands to bleed them, if you haven't I'll bring mine

Thanks for the reply Brian, ideally I want a compact sort of camera with some SLR capabilities, with a shutter speed around 5-10 seconds.

I know you only get what you pay for, but am curious as to what's possible on a camera upto the value of say £200

Oh yeah, I've got a bone to pick with you Ian, when I put batteries in my shiny new MP3 player, it had "I'm a Barbie girl" on it, what are you implying?

wozzaa said there would be a thunderstorm, when we were down southend yesterday (was hot a calm, when we were there)

typical as we had the kites in the boot!!! lol

Paul canon d400 can go to 30 seconds.

i was tempted to set it up last night, but couldn't get an unobsured view of the ligthening (it was like a sheet , low in the sky, behind many houses!!)

cleared the air though!!! lol

Dazza, it can actually be set to "bulb" setting which leaves it open as long as you want it to be... literally 24 hours or longer if you wanted

I'll show you next time we meet (Sunday?)
