iirc it'll effect spool up. power gains are likely to be top end rather than lower down. don't think it'll effect noise too much. imo you'd be better off getting the downpipe and leaving the up pipe for the time being. although not sure if the newages have a cat in the up pipes as well as the dp?

sure frayz will be along soon to give a better answer.

Makes a fair difference tbh.

Two fairly identical WRX's

Only difference is the Apollo induction and PPP Sports cat, no decat uppie.

And my 53WRX running no Apollo, H&S sports cat and the decat Uppipe.

Equates to 25bhp and 4ftlbs torque and quicker in gear times
The induction kit was actually pretty good for reducing intake temps !

The newage WRX has a cat in the U/P the STI does not. Yes it will most definiately help but will require a remap. If doing so id recomend an additional decat downpipe or sports catted downpipe to make the most of your gains.

Be warned though, dont go buying any old U/P off of eBay or whatever. The bore of the U/P has a huge effect on the spool of your turbo. If you are going to stick with teh stock TD04 turbocharger then a big bore U/P wont harm your spool too much as the tiny turbo spools like crazy anyway. Problems will arise when you have a big bore U/P and then swap to a larger turbocharger such as a 20g or larger... even a 20g is a bit small to be affected too much.

The larger bore of the pipe dramatically slows the gas speed and therefore response of the turbocharger.

You best bet is to by the stock U/P from a newage STI as these have quite a small bore and are readilly available. Cheap too.
