Default What brakes are people using?

I have a 54 plate wrx without the brembos and need new brakes desperately. Ive been looking at all big brake upgrades but they are so much money, im thinking of keeping my standard 4 pot calipers but good pads and disc's all round but can't make my mind up. What do people recomend? or are using? i don't drive like a mad man but really want to do some track days and normal road driving without the worry of my brakes giving up.

Performance friction discs and pads seems to be the thing at the moment. Heard nothing but superb things about them

Have been round Brands with Zak of Mocom racing in his Sti with PF disc's and Pads, fantastic stopping power from a 'standard' set up.
Both Zak and Dynamix have been running these on their Time Attack cars, very impressive.

Have heard very good things about the PF's.

The best pads i have used myself were Carbotech XP8's. Simply awesome.
I'd say the standard 4 pots with Carbotech's were almost as good as my AP 6 pots with Ferodo DS2500's.

I had the DS2500's on the Pug. I found them very good too, albeit they made the wheels very dusty

Gary, i'm not sure thats a recommendation, I had a set of DS2500 in my 330mm AP 6 pots, the feel is very poor and they faded within 4-6 full on stops.

Maybe DS2500 are OK if the car is lightweight or if you brake like Miss Daisy?

I use APs so not much help there although i will say the DS2500s are absolute pants and i wouldnt want them stopping my zimmer frame let alone my scoob.

Pads im using now and are absolutely awesome are the RS29's from Pagid.

As for an upgrade on your stock calipers i can only echo the above on the PF setup. Fantastic performance and great value

I can't really comment on fade or wear or track use but initial impressions when I test drove my Spec D were that the standard brembo disc/pad set up felt no sharper than my WRX 4 pots with the EBC Yellows.
