Default Mocom classic remap

Thought I'd ask you guys, as I know the Mocom team are always busy.

Thinking about a remap on MY99 UK, and would want it to be local for future mods to be mapped in. Do they do them now on this ECU?

Mods I have:

Green panel filter.
Prodrive TMIC piping.
Magnex Decat Downpipe
And Mangex Decat Centre section
Prodrive backbox.
Dawes device capped at 1.1bar (already running Prodrive ECU)

Would I desperately need, a 3 port boost solenoid and 255lph fuel pump?
I mean, would they really squeeze out a few extra horses?

cheers

He's not, if you can stretch to it have a read up on SimTek, not only for the nice add ons but also removing the danger of the MAF sensor failing.

I've had a brief read up on it.
Although my famous last words could be "I'm not planning to do much modding after a remap", I know how the hunger for power grows.
I think a TEK3 remap would be just fine.............for now.

He is the mapper used by Xtreme, he isn't based there. I think he waits till he has 2 or 3 in one go to make the journey down worthwhile.

I also think that Knowlsey himself may be doing mapping now but perhaps I misunderstood

Been down this route before; you will wait an age for Pat to become available as he is always very busy. Zak doesn't use ECUTEK software so the only option would be to buy an after market ECU (Simtek or Apexi probably), which he can map. I went down the Apexi route for my MY00 which did mean buying a new ECU but Zak is local and I trust him...

I had a guy called Simon come out to me - he's JollyGreenMonster - if you want his details send me a PM. I have a 99Uk spec and he was able to ECUtek - however, I would change the fuel pump before having the map

Bite the bullet and get a simtek....

Failing that, i think Pat is doing some work for Xtreme at the end of the month for someone else, so will deffo be in the area at that time.

Only really had EcUtek on my mind, because its seems fairly mild, and cheaper, but still with the option re-map extra mods.

Thought about JGM before, but he has to travel, and doesn't he only map it on the road? I suppose thats not a bad thing.

So ECuTek, Simtek and Apexi.
Whats the pro's and cons of these? Bare in mind, I'm only a "mild modder", I can't envisage myself ever going reverse inlet manifold for FMIC or anything like that. Maybe turbo and injectors ata later date.

For what you are planning there is really only one choice - Ecutek.
The others will do the task, and even give you some toys (simtek), but will be approx. twice the cost, and unless you are planning much bigger mods, then they are not necessary.
The only real issue locally with the Ecutek, is that Mocom/Zak cannot do this.

I have no experience of JGM, but he does seem to get a good press, and Yes he will map on the road - Thats exactly where it should be mapped, and where most other mappers would do it. Also thats where you use it!

Pat used to live in the area and was happy to be contacted directly (therefore cheaper), not sure if he still can be contacted directly. He did 3 maps for my first Scoob, and I was allways happy with the results, the car is still running well now. But some people have had issues?

Bit further to travel, but If I could not get Zak to map the car, personaly I would travel up to Zen. Paul is excellent.

Hope this helps

Call Zak @ Mocom and discuss your options.

I trust Zak with my life, so mapping my car is no problem. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Well I think I've got my mind set on ECUTek now. If Mocom doesn't do it, then I will have to go elsewhere, which is a shame, because I lke the idea of him being local.

Picking up a used ECUTek on the weekend.
Mod's are very simular to what I have, apart from a 3 port boost soleniod, which is on its way to me.
If the mods are matched to car of the same year to one I'm getting the ECu from, will it be OK?
Do I even need a 3 post boost solenoid even though I got a Dawes?
thanks

Might be, might not but it's a bit of a high risk strategy. If it were me I'd get it mapped properly.

I believe so, the map will control the level of boost and you won't need the manual controller i.e Dawes device. Mind you I had mine maped and didn't need the 3 port solenoid

Yeh, I'd rather have it done properly, but getting an ECUTek mapper in Essex seems a bit of a mission at the mo.
It just got me thinking, a PPP ecu is a generic map, and that easily interchangeable, I thought this might be, with the exact same mods.

Joe, we can take your car out for a run after we've swapped the ECU's, if you aren't happy you are under no obligation to buy it...give me a bell this afternoon if you want to sort out times for tomorrow. I'll be at Mocom from 1pm today

Got my new ECU from Trails

Seems to run fine. Idling is alot lower at 150-200rpm compared to my PPP ECU being around the 800rpm mark. I am getting it checked out properly next week, and remapped if needed. It was popping a bit on the way home when it got hot, I never got that with my PPP ECU.

Just waiting for my 3 port boost solenoid and its going here: Carnage Performance Home

Anyone know much about them?

glad its all OK Joe, my TEK3 map was set up with plenty of nice bangs and pops from over-run, but only over 4000 rpm...hence the noise. You can of course have it mapped out

not heard of Carnage though
