i know about the weight issue that's cherp on about on every forum. but this top speed issue always puzzles me. surely a higher capacity engine can destroy a smaller engine by more than 4mph top speed.

physics hat on. speed = distance / time. so is independant of weight. average acceleration = velocity / time. velocity is dependent on weight so therefore acceration is dependant on weight. that's why apart from the gear ratios both cars have the possibility to have a similar top speed. you also need to take into account aerodynamics, friction etc. won't go into it and bore you any more. (all according to when i done my a level in physics)
oh and doing those sorts of speeds down the 414 is why there are always accidents. not saying you can't handle the car at those speeds, but it others you also have to watch out for!

Of course top speed is dependant on weight, if say your car (capable of say 150mph were to have half a tonne of excess weight added it would reduce the cars ability to reach the previous top speed.

if you were to meet that corsa at any race track the result would be very different. people seem to forget that the scoob is by no means the fastest car in the world, plenty of cars will keep up with one in a straight line ... especially from the VXR camp. On a track though there is very little that will. give the corsa some respect but smile to yourself that it would be nicely nestled in the tire wall at Druids if it tried giving it to you at Brands.

So if the top speed is down to weight/power. Why does a audi tt 3.2 quattro roadster do 155mph limited. The weight/power of that car is lower than a wrx. I'm curious if it has nothing to do with capacity. I wasn't doing 144mph down the a414 :eek I don't think any car could
