Wiring up a new HDD/DVD combi . . . .
. . . . to a TV & Sky digi box.( not Sky+)
I have just got a new combi unit & have got to the point where I can get Sky on the TV & play a DVD. However I cannot get it to record from the Sky box onto the HDD. It plays from the HDD but just the blank unrecorded wavey lines.
I am sure I must have connected the scarts wrongly somewhere. Can someone please tell me whick socket to connect to which as I think I have tried just about every combination?
I have the following to choose from :-
TV
EXT1 RGB
EXT2 AV
HDD/DVD
AV1 TV
AV2 DECODER
SKY
TV SCART
VCR SCART

Thats the one Paul
TV "EXT2" to HDD "AV1" for playback of the HDD/DVD,
SKY "TV" to TV "EXT1" for watching SKY,
then SKY "VCR" to HDD "AV2" for recording SKY onto HDD
Make sure in the SKY settings menu that it is outputting "RGB" for the best picture quality, also try swithing the HDD output to S-Video for better picture quality, if it comes up in Black and White then switch it back to Composite.
Oh and when you want to record SKY select AV2 as a channel on the HDD

Cheers guys.
I think I had that combination at some point. But in a blonde moment didn't select AV2 as the channel on the HDD.
Off to do a bit of wiring.
Back in a mo.
Better make that two mos.
