Default What to get?

I'm thinking about getting a dog so i'll need to change the car. Nope not the scooby, but the family astra coupe. So what should i get? Budget will be about £4k as that's what i'll probably get for the astra. I thought about an impreza wagon but i enjoy the fuel economy of the astra for day to day driving.

The astra is nice and comfy and has leather seats and aircon etc so would like to get something with the same sort of creature comforts.

So guys what do you suggest?

What size dog are you looking to get?

When I had my Boxer, he'd lay on the parcel shelf of my Clio

we should be getting a miniture schnauzer will be about 14" to the shoulder.

i thought about the 3 or 5 series tourings. trouble is the last bmw i had was a 535i sport. loved it for the comfort etc but the fuel economy was worse than the scoob!

If I was you I would look round several RSPCA centres. We have now rescued two dogs from there- they will be vaccinated, spade/neutered, flead and microchipped. You can get all sorts of breeds in there and all different ages. When we got Fen (latest addition), there was a litter of baby Staffs in there- so it just goes to show that they have all sorts!
There is an RSPCA near Braintree (Wethersfield) and several more that might be worth a look

ta.

Samuel will love going to look around and choose. he may only be 14 months old but every time he sees a dog he points and calls out in baby gargle. then if he touches it he says "aahhh" we're sure he said woof last night when he saw the dogs on the telly.

The 530 diesel will put a on your face. I've got some experience of them at work and they are fun with a decent MPG return.

cheers. will do. shouldn't be too long. just found out that you can get a harness a bit like a seatbelt for the dog so that they can travel in a saloon car. may not have to change the astra afterall.

You can get these as well to stop them falling in the footwell when they get in & out.

£15 from HERE

It would probably fold up on one side so you could still use the other rear passenger seat.

True... but my Mitsi Paj TDi was very thirsty!! And it was only a SWB. Used it to and from work (which at the time was only a few miles away) and I'd be doing £60 a week! My old Scooby was much nicer to the wallet at only £40 a week! Also my old Rottie used to struggle jumping in and out of my Pajero, so think a Schnazer may need a ladder!!

How about a Volvo estate of some kind?

IMO , for 4wd you can't beat a Mitsi as an all rounder. You get a bit used to all the creature comforts ........ Especially for a 13-15 year old car. You can pick up Pajero from around £2000 now for a 7 seater.
