I just remember my brothers previous scoob had a very similar issue, the fault was diagnosed as a failing MAF sensor, replaced it, all fine. Just an idea.

I think I'm right in saying you only get maximum boost in 4th & 5th. If you feel like you're hitting a brick wall in 5th under full throttle then I'd say it sounds like the fuel cut defender but as Frayz says it depends on what you've had done to the car, could be something else.

You'll get full boost in the lower gears too mate but it wound have the loading of the higher gears.

If it was just blowing the spark out then it wouldnt cut out altogether it would just have a big miss under high speed high load conditions.

I only get 1.3 bar in 1,2 & 3 but in 4 & 5 it peaks at 1.5 dropping to 1.3 if max boost is set at or close to 1.5 (for instance) then a small overboost (due to a failing MAF maybe) could make it hit the fuel cut defender.

Its just a spike in the upper gears caused by the increased loading mate,

HHhhhmmmm that'll teach me.

My point remains though, if you go above the maximum boost the you'll encounter the defender. The reason you went above max boost I cannot comment on.

If you have got a bleed valve, take it off!! it won't do you engine any good as you'll be piling on the boost with no extra fuelling, causing detonation.

Try cleaning the boost solenoid, they can sometimes stick causing the fuel cut

yeah i think that would be the one its next to the turbo connected in the pipe line from the turbo would that be a bleed valve that turns up and down the boost, when i turned it clock wise abit it red at 1 bar if i turn it anti clock wise it goes up depending on how much u turn it.should i have left this alone

were is the boost solenoid then ,so it would be better to take this bleed valve off, what would control the boost if that isnt on there?

Yes mate

DO NOT

i repeat DO NOT Touch it, turn it, alter it, twist it. Bleed valves are horrid things but can be setup to work well and if setup properly should never be altered without checking for det and AFRs etc.

Id take the car to a scooby specialist mate, without knowing what the cars doing with regards to det/AFR and EGT its hard to say whats wrong. If i had this data i could tell you much easier.

You can take it off and connect the 2 pipes but be careful to moniter boost pressures untill you get it checked out by a specialist.

Like i siad bleed valves are fine if set up and left alone. If youre messing and dont know what youre doing you could easily get on a slippery slope to disaster

As Frayz says, Bleed valves are nasty things, yes, they give you plenty of boost, but at the eventual expense of the engine. Take it off, if you're going to Xtreme's then have a chat with Knowlesy about getting Pat Herbourn to map the ECU with a ScoobyECU.

The best way to get more boost is electronically through the ECU and not through a boost valve or Dawes Device

Exactly what was happening on mine, only affected higher gears

You wouldn't know mate, as your car doesn't break 140, like mine

Was doing high speed runs up Brunters at the time, it was like the car just hit a wall, started to splutter, but when you eased off, due to the lower boost, it would start to pick up again, but as soon as I put my foot down again it stated to miss. Under half throttle it wouldn't create as much boost so would pickup speed gradually

Worth a try and don't cost much for a new set of plugs

When mine was playing up they thought it was the MAF, changed it and it made no difference.... I ended up driving away again with the issue and taking it elsewhere to get it fixed.
