Now the Scoob has gone
It's been a week since the Scooby has gone, and it's been a great weight off my shoulders, my finances are in a better shape, and just as I was beginning to think I don't miss her anymore, something happens.
Was coming home from John1uk's today and was poodling through Basildon and there was a numpty driving a MR2 like a nutter, wished I had the Scooby to show him his car isn't the fastest, or indeed the exhaust note is nothing compared to the flat 4 burble!
Nevermind, the GTI is now taking shape, got a few things to sort out on it, some electrical and some cosmetic, and it will be like a brand new car when I've finished.
The one thing I'm not sure about in the Golf is that it blends in with all the other traffic, at least with the Scoob, you get noticed. It's great seeing kids and adults wave at you as you drive by, shouting "Nice car mate!!"
Obviously, the Golf is nothing compared to the Impreza, when you accelerate, you keep expecting the turbo to kick in at 2500 revs, but it don't. The brakes are nowhere near as good, but are acceptable, especially after being on a drivers course and Andy Walsh showing you how to brake more effectively.
In some ways, I don't miss the Impreza especially with only getting 150 miles from a tank, having to fill up with Super unleaded, the cost of servicing, tyres, brakes etc, but I think it's still an awesome car, it looks good (classics ARE the best) and sounds the nuts.
With all the money and problems I've had with the Scoob, would I go back in time to chose a different car? No, I don't regret it one bit, and would do it all again. If it wasn't for the Scoob, I wouldn't of made so many good friends.

"Think" your car is fine - if I'm not mistaken, I saw it parked up on a driveway on Friday night as I went past it on my way home.
Turns out it's only a short walk from my flat through the back doubles to where it is!
If it wasn't yours, it was a damned near copy!

You're not wrong about 35MPG!!
Don't worry, it's in good hands, got a new drivers seat, new passenger rear handle, centre caps, gear stick gaitor and speaker grilles, just got to sort out the reverse lights, rear foglights, rear wiper, sunroof and give it a major service.
By the time I've finished with it, it will be like a brand new car, and it's not going to be modified at all, saving that for the kit car.
