Default URGENT Car wont start - need help

Hi all - I have a 99 classic with immobiliser. For some very strange reason - I can't start it?

I turn the key to "start", press the button on the fob - but no red light on the dash is coming on to signal the immobiliser being turned off - so i can't start it?

Feeling very angry and frustrated as I've ploughed through the books - managed to find a code, but that doesn't seem to work either.

Anyone got any suggestions - or can someone please save me..................due to go on the cruise tomorrow - got rid of kids etc etc...........

Have you checked the battery...

What does it do / not do?

Don't know if this is the same or similar system as the later ones but i had the same problem.......... is your clock working?

If not the clock fuse may have blown which on the newer models is also the fuse for the immobiliser........... Just a thought......

If so the clock/immobiliser fuse is in the fuse box by the battery.

OK, guys. Initially i thought it was the battery - so I changed them first. That was not the problem.

Basically, I put the key in the ignition - turn it to start. All the lights are on as they normally are. But when I press the button for the immob in the fob - the light on the right does not blink to enable me to start the engine.

At present - I have managed to use the code in the glove which basically seems to re-set the alarm, which goes off, then I have to enter the code which stops the alarm and enables me to start the ignition.

No ariel in sight . The car has run fine - so I don't think its the starter motor. Just weird - it was fine. She came home (blame the MRS)..... she didn't lock the motor - went to get back in and it just wouldn't start - couldn't disarm the immob.

Hope this update helps????

Does your alarm bleep when you set it normally? if so is it bleeping now?

If you can't get it to arm or re-arm then it's the shielding. Try and get hold of sigma sam over in the security section.

The fob will not work at all - I wont lock the doors, it wont arm the car and wont work the immobilisor.

I have to use the key to open the door - which obviuosly sets the alarm off, then disarm the alarm by the code.

To lock the doors, I have to use the code to lock the doors, then get out quick LOL.

Its like the fob doesn't recognise the system anymore? When you press the button on the fob - the little light flashes above the button - but the signalling light in the car doesn't seem to be working??

Who/what is sigma sam?

Sigma Sam is the username of the sigma representative on here (the people who make your alarm. The keycode should operate as a manual override.

Had the same problem as mine until I upgraded the shielding on the alarm then it worked fine. Try pushing the car a few feet down the road it may then be out of the inteference range and will start. Unless its something else

The fob batery could also need changing, same syntom as sheilding prob.

Once you have started the car with the code, if you drive and stop somewhere else, does the fob work correctly then?

Morning all - it doesn't seem to matter where the car is - it still doesn't work. Just seems so odd that it was working fine - but then just packed up! Pain in the *** everytime I wanna go out - I gotta mess about entering codes - and to arm the car I have to enter it and get out quick LOL

Still, with the kids all packed off the "nanny's house" - we'll be on the cruise never the less - if anyone keeps hearing an alarm going off though - don't be too concerned its probably just me trying to start/lock the car

might be that the alarm has lost the programming for the fob. have a look in the book about how to add a new fob. might help. or have you got another fob to try?
