New Discovery Channel documentary goes behind the scenes at the Subaru World Rally Team

Twelve months in the making, the first episode of a new six-part Discovery Channel television series Engineering the World Rally will be shown in the UK at 2200hrs on Monday 12 March.

The Discovery Channel was granted unprecedented levels of access to the team and drivers during the 2006 World Rally Championship season, and the new series features a rollercoaster mix of action both behind-the-scenes and on the rally stage.

Each of the hour-long episodes reveals more about how the team engineers and prepares the cars for each rally, test and shakedown, as well as recording the highs and lows from six rounds of the series.

Richard Taylor, Subaru World Rally Team managing director said of the series: "It's fair to say last season wasn't the most successful in Subaru's distinguished WRC history, but it certainly made for compelling viewing. The Discovery team followed us throughout the season and managed to capture the action and the drama of the championship and the Subaru team extremely well. Many teams have shied away from allowing this sort of access in the past, but we wanted to bring the excitement of the WRC to a wider audience and I think that’s just what the series has achieved."
