Just got myslef a set of AP 6 pots for around £100 more than the kit you found....
Quality kit well know for it's superior braking...
Just keep your eye out on ebay, they do come up

I know what you are saying, once heated up etc, nothing stops better, but a compromise for road use is essential, hence me asking peoples thoughts

Not so worried about the heating etc. as the pads will sort that.
but it's weather they have anti rattle shims, dust seals, how easy it is to get pads.
