i'm back.....but all is not well in the spally scooby household...
Got back from hols this morning, thought i would take the scoob out for a steady run to ensure everything is working as it should, must add didnt boot it here as wanted to get all the oils etc flowing. All went fine. have just taken the girlfriend home and half way there went to over take someone gave it some beans, and as soon as i let off rattle rattle rattle. So am going to have to get it looked at, but if it is serious it could be RIP from the spally mobile
anyway hope all are well? have ya missed me?? lol

unfortunately the noise has got worse, probably due to there being very little oil in her. Although dont know why as i only did an oil change, with the assistance of a mechanic, about a month ago. So not looking good i have heard this sort of noise before and that meant an engine rebuild! so it is looking like i'm gonna be scooby less for a few months, but dont worry i will still be popping about to say hello.

As most will know spally HAS tried the rebuild thing & the replacement also.... IF you want to do a replacement again i will gladly help mate... second one for me if that the case.... or even just remove to get a build done....

As mentioned by Spec C above, If you need a hand mate with anything like removing the engine let me know. I might not be as much help as Steve though (never removed an engine before)

Spally,
If your thinking of a rebuild, speak to Mike at Essex Subaru Breakers, he knows a guy called Bob who builds engines for racing scoobys, and seems to know his stuff.

Frayz unfortuantely think you are right there matey. There is obviously some underlying problem for it to have used that much oil in such a little time.
cheers for that guys. To tell you the truth am suprised that the engine i had put in has lasted this long, as most on here know i was sort of messed around when it was put in!!!
Steve, summers, Andy. Thanks for that....due to some issues at the mo the car will be coming off the road completely for while until i can sort a few bits out and then decide what to do.
cheers

cheers matey, am going to decide over the next few months, what are my options and what i want to do. I know i dont drive around like an old woman but the car is always warmed and cooled down etc, etc, but this will be the 4th eninge to let go and to be perfectly honest the bank balance at the mo cant sustain a new engine every 12-18 months.
So maybe the scoob will go and i will return to a "normal" car for the time being, am just wainting to see how things pan out at work a the mo.

Hope you get it sorted mate, and you know the offer is always there to help if you need it. I hope you do get the car going again, but no one would blame you for getting a "normal car" as I don't think anyones money situation would lend itself to an engine rebuild every 18 months. All the best from us both.
