Default Kit cars - my passion;)

From my last thread about the RS200, the debate should we say got a little heated

Though I agree with Frayz (in part), that the original RS200 is one of, if the THE most infamous rally car ever made, and you'll never be able to replicate the original car. And by stuffing an Impreza running gear in it, you are killing the charactor of the car, but hey, I've been to kit car shows and seen car builds that use a 2 litre Ford Pinto to power an AC Cobra 427 replica!!!
The point of it isn't to say I've got a genuine RS200, or Cobra, etc but to show that people are truely fanatic about cars, and because most people can't afford to buy the original genuine car, the next best thing for them is to build a replica.

Yes, there are a lot of oddities in the kit car world, but by the same token, there are a lot of quality cars, and because of the SVA legislation, the kit car world is shedding it's image of poor quality builds and lousy looking cars and is becoming more "professional" with top quality cars being produced.

Anyway, my Kit car isn't a replica. I bought it because it's a challenge, ie, I've got to make a car designed in the 70's comply with current SVA law as it was never finished and registered.

I love playing about with cars, - in case you haven't noticed and part of my project is the wiring, which I'll be making a complete wiring loom from scratch, yes there is an easier option, to buy a ready made loom, but whats the challenge in that! after all, it's more fun working out the amperage of lighting circuits so I can order the right gauge cable

If you're intersted, here's the website adress of the Marlin Owners club, here you'll find some amazing looking cars, and the Marlin Sportster demonstrator uses the running gear from a BMW M3, consider that in a car weighing around 1/2 - 3/4 ton!!

By the way, this thread isn't about slating anyone nor is it to provoke any untoward comments. If I have upset anyone, I apologise in advance as it's not my intention

to anyone who says "This isn't an event"

I'm building the Roadster.

The 5EXI came out just after I bought the roadster, which I cursed immensely as I want one now

Dax has a great reputation, probably one of the best manufacturers around, AND they are pretty local

Just love the Tojeiro kit

Much Respect to you mate.

I know I would love to do something like that, but lack the engineering skills and patience (I get bored too easily!!)

You will be so proud once this is completed
